Wastewater
The Bibliographic Database stores thousands of articles dealing with onsite and small community wastewater collection, treatment, disposal, and related topics. NSFC technical assistants collect the articles from more than 90 journals and magazines, as well as conference proceedings, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) documents, and research papers.
A Bibliographic Database search is normally performed using various keywords, (i.e., septic system and design; drainfield and performance and cost). Other parameters include recent articles (newer than 1990) or searches for articles by a specific author.
The database is continually growing, as NSFC technical assistants review journals and select articles. Each article is assigned keywords and an abstract is written, reviewed, and then entered into the database system.
The electronic database contains a record for each article. Records include information about the author(s), author's affiliation, source of article, year published, length of article, keywords and codes (such as taxonomy and state), and an abstract.

This database helps customers access onsite wastewater regulatory documentation. It also helps the NESC determine if it is meeting the growing and changing needs of the regulatory community. For example, an individual wanting an idea of which technologies are permitted in their state would be able to search rules and guidelines in the database. The database also allows for comparison between state regulatory statutes on specific wastewater topics.

Manufacturers and Consultants Database
Developed and maintained by the National Small Flows Clearinghouse, a program of the NESC.
The Manufacturers and Consultants Database houses a list of industry contacts for wastewater products and consulting services. This database serves both as a reference for engineers, private citizens, and small community officials, and a referral database for wastewater products and trade items. Currently, the database contains entries for more than 1,200 manufacturers and consultants.
Customers can search for a specific type of manufacturer or consultant. Searches may be conducted based upon one or more product or service categories. For instance, a homeowner interested in purchasing a composting toilet can obtain a list of product manufacturers.
Neither the EPA nor the NSFC endorse any particular service or product listed in the database. This database is merely a reference tool for people searching for small community wastewater treatment consultants and small system equipment manufacturers.
